ClassNotes ("we", "our", or "us") operates the ClassNotes mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.

Information We Collect

Phone Number — Used for account authentication via one-time passcode (OTP). Your phone number is stored securely with Firebase Authentication.
Name — The display name you provide during onboarding, visible to other group members.
Photos — When you share or respond to note requests, photos are uploaded to our secure cloud storage (Firebase Storage). Photos are only visible to members of your class group.
Device Token — We collect your device's push notification token to send you notifications about new notes and requests in your groups.
Group Membership — We store which class groups you belong to.

How We Use Your Information

To authenticate your identity via phone number verification
To display your name to other group members
To store and share class note photos within your groups
To send push notifications about group activity
To manage group membership and invite codes

Data Storage and Security

All data is stored using Google Firebase services (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage) with industry-standard security practices. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data is only shared with members of your class groups within the app.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account directly from the app's Settings screen. You may also request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at prashantkulkarni.nm@gmail.com. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving your request.

Children's Privacy

ClassNotes is intended for use by parents and students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. The app is designed to be used by parents to share class notes on behalf of their children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app.
